Employment Tribunal Claims With the Help of Experienced Solicitors
An employment tribunal hears claims about matters pertaining to employment. Though the Employment Tribunal hearing is less formal than a court hearing, the decisions made are legally binding and have to be followed. The cases are heard by a panel of three people, called ‘Tribunal’ and this includes a legally qualified Employment Judge, two non legal or ‘lay’ members who have experience dealing with employment problems from the point of view of employers or employees.
The Tribunal judges and non-legal members being completely independent and not part of the government, make decisions impartially. Their judgment is based on law, evidence and arguments put to them. The non-legal members use knowledge of workplace procedures to the proceedings. At times, the Employment Judge also hears the cases alone, to identify the issues in the case to be dealt with at the full hearing or to deal with financial claims caused by the termination of the claimant’s employment.
